Who knew we were in for a mini “Royal Visit New York” after it was announced that the couple would be attending Global Citizen Live. last Saturday.
While we’ve been recovering from the excitement of their visit and appearances, we have a number of ID updates and other information ICYMI (In case you missed it.).
Last Thursday the couple surprised us with a visit to One World Observatory with New York Governor Hochul and NYC Mayor de Blasio along with his family.
Meghan wore a dark navy ensemble.
The navy jacket and trousers have not yet been identified. It was thought, at first, that her coat was from Armani, however the buttons did not match any of the Armani coats.
The turtleneck sweater she wore is from Giuliva Heritage – the ‘Arianna’ sweater in navy, €450. The company confirmed the information to UFO No More. Thank you to Sarah for sharing the information with us.
Here is a summary of her outfit —
Jacket: Not yet identified.
Trousers: Not yet identified.
Sweater: Giuliva Heritage – the ‘Arianna’ sweater in navy, €450
Shoes: Aquazzura the ‘Purist’ 105 pump in navy suede, $650.
Earrings: Galanterie de Cartier diamond stud earrings
Rings: Birks ‘Snowflake’ ring in rose gold, Lorraine Schwartz diamond pinky ring
Bracelets: Cartier Tank watch (Princess Diana’s)in gold, Jennifer Meyer 18k gold bezel tennis bracelet ($3000), Cartier ‘Love’ bracelet in gold as well as one new additional bracelet.
New Bracelet: We spotted a new bracelet on Meghan’s wrist during her visit. It is a nameplate bracelet in gold and after carefully combing through hundreds of images, we believe it is personalized with “ARCHIE ♡ LILI” – using a heart to separate the two names. It could also be the ampersand symbol or something else entirely, but there is definitely some sort of symbol between the two names. She wore the bracelet again on Friday and Saturday as well.
We think the bracelet is from Jennifer Meyer ($950), a brand she has worn often and favors.
Here are some of the distinct details we noticed about the bracelet —
It has loops on either end of the plate that are soldered or are a part of the plate itself when it was created. (See images below highlighting the loops at the end of the nameplate.)
Here is the bracelet on Meghan’s wrist (below, left) compared to the nameplate bracelet from Jennifer Meyer (below, right).
Meghan’s Chronicles suggests that the bracelet is from Zoe Lev ($90), which is similar, however the bracelet has jump rings on either end going through the actual plate itself as shown below. This is different from the one Meghan wore.
We’ve reached out to both brands for confirmation and will provide an update if we should hear back. Below we show the two style bracelets compared to the one Meghan is wearing (R-L: Meghan, Jennifer Myer bracelet, Zoe Lev bracelet)
Thursday afternoon the Duchess changed outfits for a meeting she and Harry had with the US Ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, and another with the World Health Organization which also included Chelsea Clinton.
The Duchess wore a black turtleneck which has not yet been identified. Her skirt, as it turns out, is not by Roland Mouret as originally thought. It has been confirmed that the skirt is from Lafayette 148 New York. The brand confirmed that it is their Lafayette 148 New York Rafferty Wool Pencil Skirt, $398 (Now $150).
Here is the list of details of what she wore:
Coat: ‘Rispoli’ style in camel, $1625
Skirt: Lafayette 148 New York Rafferty Wool Pencil Skirt, $398 (Now $150)
Shoes: Giorgio Armani – the Velvety leather court shoes with asymmetric top line, $675., Sunglasses: Valentino Round Acetate Sunglasses w/ Mini Rockstuds VA4083, reg. $203 – now $161, also available at Neiman’s here, $292.
Bag: Valextra ‘Iside’ Mini Bag in camel, $298
Portfolio/Laptop case: Smythson, $650
Bracelets: Cartier ‘Love’ bracelet, Jennifer Meyer 18k gold bezel tennis bracelet ($3000), Princess Diana’s diamond tennis bracelet, a piece we’ve seen her wear several times now, the first being in 2018 on the South Pacific tour.
Earrings: Mateo NY – Mini Diamond Bar bypass studs, $325
UPDATE 17 November – Earrings: Her earrings are new and appear to be a double bar earring in either black and gold with diamonds or gold and diamonds.
We shared several brands in our original post that were suggested as possible matches. Adina Reyter has a similar pair however the brand confirmed with us that the earrings were not from their collection.
We’re now thinking the earrings are from Mateo New York — the Mini Diamond Bar bypass studs in 14k gold, $325.
We found these earrings from Jennifer Miller – Diamond Double Bar earrings, $285. The brand has confirmed that they are not from their collection, however, these are a great “get the look” style.
On Friday, we had another surprise engagement when the couple visited an elementary school in Harlem, NYC.
A summary of what Meghan wore —
Jacket: Loro Piana ‘Loreen’ Reversible Cashmere Coat in red pear, $5840
Sweater: Loro Piana ‘Guastalla’ Crew Neck in red pear, $1050
Trousers: Loro Piana ‘Antoine’ Pants in red pear, $1685
Belt: Loro Piana – the eyelet belt in red, $775

Face mask: AirQueen — $21 for a pack of 10. Also available on Amazon here – A pack of 10 is $24 and here.
Jewelry: She wore the same jewelry and watch again. We did not see what earrings she may have worn.
Additionally, when the couple stopped at Melba’s Restaurant in Harlem for lunch, she was seen carrying a black Bottega Veneta wallet and wearing a pair of tortoise shell sunglasses which we first thought were either Gucci or Versace. After searching hundreds of images (and nearly going cross-eye!) we finally ID’d the sunglasses — they are from Giorgio Armani – style AR8145 in Striped Brown, $404.
Wallet: Bottega Veneta — the Black Intrecciato Long Wallet, $790
Sunglasses: Giorgio Armani — style AR8145 in Striped Brown, $404. The sunglasses are also available at Smartbuy Glasses here, $128.
On Saturday morning, Meghan and Harry had a meeting at the United Nations with Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.
The Duchess wore a camel monochromatic ensemble which included the following —
Coat: Max Mara ‘Lilia’ cashmere coat in tobacco, $5,590. Also available at Neiman’s here.
Blouse: Max Mara blouse – Silk Crepe Classic Shirt, $695
Trousers: Not confirmed, but appear to be from Max Mara. They could the brand’s wide leg pant in camel, $895.
Shoes: Manolo Blahnik BB pump in camel suede, $665
Bracelets/Watch: Her staple jewelry pieces and watch
Earrings: A pair of gold hoop earrings not yet identified.*

Face Mask: AirQueen — $21 for a pack of 10. Also available on Amazon here – A pack of 10 is $24 and here.
Portfolio/Laptop case: Smythson black leather, $650
*Meghan wore a new pair of hoop earrings that we have been unable to identify. We’re wondering if maybe these could be from Adina Reyter – the 15mm Tube Hoops, $350. This is another designer that the Duchess favors.
More about Meghan’s Trousers —
The Duchess’ trousers were most likely from Max Mara, however there has been some debate as to which style she wore. In the photos of Meghan in the trouser, she appears to be wearing a flat front, wide leg style. The current trouser on the Max Mara site shows a straight pleat down the front. Someone suggested that perhaps she had the pleat let out. We also had a suggestion that she wore another style from the brand — Max Mara High-Waisted Wide Leg Trousers in beige, $423.22 now $286.58..
For Saturday evening’s final engagement, the Global Citizen Live Festival in Central Park, the Duchess arrived in a black Dior coat, thought to be from the Dior Spring 2017 Collection. We’re thinking it may be called 30 Montaigne coat – here is the short jacket version — 30 Montaigne Bar black double-breasted wool coat. We do not yet have an ID for the grey and white plaid checked scarf she wore.
*An interesting fact to point out about the Dior bag — originally the bag was named the Chouchou (French for “favorite”). The bag was designed in 1994 and given to Diana in 1995 by French Prime Minister Jacques Chirac’s wife Bernadette. Princess Diana love the bag so much so, she purchased it in several colors and it was renamed the Lady D-lite bag in 1996. We’re wondering if Meghan may have carried it as an homage to her late mother-in-law.
The Duchess wore a new pair of sunglasses from Miu Miu – ‘Artiste’ sunglasses, $410.
Coat: Dior SS 2017 Collection
Bag: Dior medium ‘Lady D-Lite’, $4900, in black cannage embroidery — personalized with “DSSOS” for Duchess of Sussex*
Face Mask: AirQueen — $21 for a pack of 10. Also available on Amazon here – A pack of 10 is $24 and here.
Sunglasses: Miu Miu – ‘Artiste’ sunglasses, $410.
Once at the Festival, Meghan removed her coat to reveal an ivory, floral embellish, stunning Valentino dress. She paired the dress with black satin pumps from Gianvito Rossi.
Dress: Valentino ivory floral-embellished dress, $5400
Shoes: Gianvito Rossi black 105 satin pumps, $695
Bracelets/Watch: Once again, the Duchess had on her staple bracelets and watch along with the nameplate bracelet
Earrings: Galanterie de Cartier diamond stud earrings
Additional ID Updates!
Meghan’s longtime friend and makeup artist, Daniel Martin was also in New York with Meghan, doing her makeup daily. I’ll keep an eye out on his Instagram for any updates on how he achieved her look. Additionally I do have a step by step, get the look post coming soon for those interested in how to achieve Meghan’s makeup.
I have not heard who was in New York doing Meghan’s hair but we were loving the “neat” bun she wore, particularly when she parted her hair to the side a bit for the UN visit. I’m not sure if she used a stylist(s) for the trip, but it’s possible that it was Clare and Nina Hallworth who assisted her for the TIME magazine photo shoot.
Meghan and Harry returned home to California on Sunday. The Duchess was spotted at the airport in a beige sweater, black jogger pants and her black cap toe Chanel ballet slippers. She also had a tote bag from Bottega Veneta — the Arco Tote, black leather, $2450.

ICYMI: Meghan’s coat worn in TIME magazine’s TIME100 edition is The Row ‘Lance’ coat in Dark Forest Green, $ 6,190. The coat is also available at Bergdorf’s here.
Thanks to one of our followers for the find!
Additionlly you may recall from our post on TIME100 that makeup artist Linda Hayward did the Duchess’ makeup for the photoshoot. Linda revealed that she used Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick on Meghan in Pillow Talk, $34.
I picked up a copy of TIME magazine’s Time100 edition and read that the photos of Harry and Meghan that appear in the article were taken back in August of this year.

And now it’s time for some Q&A!
Why was Meghan dressed in heavy coats and turtlenecks in such warm temperatures?
There has been a lot of discussion around why Meghan was wearing heavier coats and a turtleneck while we were experiencing warmer temperatures (70s-80s) here in New York/New Jersey. We have a few theories around this based on facts and other celebrity trends.
The first is that Meghan may have been either gifted the items she wore or the pieces were on loan to her. Many celebrities borrow pieces from brands and designers for various events. It would make sense if Meghan did this as she may never wear some of those pieces again. If this was the case, then she likely had commitments to wear certain things, like the Max Mara coats, which would explain why she had them on when it was 80 degrees.
The other is that Meghan may be someone that runs cooler than most of us. Just from going in and out of buildings with the air conditioning on full blast can be like walking into a freezer! It’s also worth mentioning that the United Nations building is known to be kept very cold. Ice pop anyone?
The second theory is that there is this trend of switching directly to Fall clothing when the calendar hits September 21st. We did this growing up particularly for school and had our new wardrobe for the start of the new year. Sometimes I would switch over sooner for work as I felt that when it there was officially a new season, it was time to change up the wardrobe. I do this now with colors and items I wear. I saw an a post from InStyle that said “according to the Fashion Almanac, it’s officially Fall” with a photo showing Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen out wearing heavy winter coats in the warmer temps on the streets of New York that same week. Funny enough, I am finding myself wearing darker colors and dragging out some Fall pieces even though it has been a little warmer here still.
Is Meghan using a stylist?
We do not know if the Duchess is using a stylist or not. There were rumors flying around that Jessica Mulroney was in New York during Meghan’s visit. This was due to the fact that Jessica posted images of New York City on her Instagram but it turns out the images were from two years ago. It’s also possible that she may have used either Clare or Nina Hallworth from the TIME100 photo shoot.
Let us know if you have any questions you might like to see us answer in future posts.

ID Credits
Finally, We would like to bring up the credit of IDs for pieces Meghan has worn.
Running the blog is a lot of work that we enjoy doing and we are grateful for the help we receive through our wonderful community of friends, bloggers and followers. During engagements or appearances we are overwhelmed with working on a post as well as managing our various social media accounts. Occasionally, Rachel, who writes a number of our posts, is away or tied up with other writing projects which leaves me to write a post, manage social media and pull together photos as well as information on what she wore.
One of our main sources for information is through Twitter, which includes IDs around brands of pieces Meghan wore. In the past we learned the designer or brand the Duchess is wearing through the Palace staff. We obviously no longer have this luxury. The majority of the information is now passed along from fellow bloggers and followers in private messages. Most of the time I end up searching for pieces on my own. I also spend time verifying IDs to be sure they’re accurate. In the end, it comes down to the fact that we simply do not have time to go back and track down everyone who may have ID’d a piece. We’ve also found that most people don’t seem to be concerned with receiving credit.
Therefore, going forward, while we will continue to give credit where credit is due when applicable, please understand that when we don’t, it’s not done deliberately. We apologize in advance.
Read more about how we ID items in our post from January 2021 – Tricks of the Trade: An Inside Look at How We ID The Duchess’ Fashion Items.
I would also like to remind anyone who is new to the blog to please review our comments policy which can be found here.
We hope to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex again soon.

Thank you for the great post. You do such a great job tracking down items and ID-ing them. For me, my favorite ensembles were the white Valentino mini dress- Meghan looks absolutely stunning- and the black dress with the camel coat- chic and professional.
I’m not sure this part of my comment is allowed, but since I just had a baby right after Meghan had Lilli, I wonder if Meghan’s wardrobe choices might stem from being post-partum as well as from other factors. I know as a new mother of a 4-month-old I am still in my maternity jeans, t-shirts and leggings. I’m certainly not out in NYC in designer gear, looking fantastic. However, I wonder if Meghan is “playing it safe” with heavier, tailored coats and more structured silhouettes as a way to feel comfortable just a few months after a new baby. She looks fantastic, but I know having a very new baby at home can definitely impact how you dress, how easy it is to find clothes that fit and your own comfort level.

Hi Laura, Thank you for your kind words of support! It is very much appreciated. Your comment regarding post-partum wardrobe choices was well said and fits within our comment policy. Thank you! – Susan

I love that you summarized the whole week in one post. Thank you! Also I’m sure she wore the same double bar earrings for her visit to Harlem. I saw pictures with her hair tucked back and it looked like a gold (maybe double) bar earring. The Loro Piana outfit was definitely my favorite from the week!

Love all the tracking down that you have done. Thank you! But I’m actually confused by Meghan’s wardrobe this time. I loved it but her average outfit cost more than 5K USD and she usually wears more affordable pieces. This time, it felt like she dressed too expensively (and out of season) which didn’t seem like her. So I am confused. Also, I looked at previous photos of events done at this time of year and she tended to wear less – not more. One theory that I have heard is that she has some financial links to these companies so maybe is getting an indirect kick-back somehow? Eitherway, the pieces themselves are nice – just very unexpected to see on her.
WhatMeghanWore says
Hi Kiran, Thanks for your kinds words. I actually covered the question around her wardrobe in our Q&A section towards the bottom of the post – scroll down towards the bottom of the post to “And now it’s time for some Q&A! Why was Meghan dressed in heavy coats and turtlenecks in such warm temperatures?” I discussed several possible reasons for the heavier Fall wardrobe she wore.
Here is part of my answer:
“The first is that Meghan may have been either gifted the items she wore or the pieces were on loan to her. Many celebrities borrow pieces from brands and designers for various events. It would make sense if Meghan did this as she may never wear some of those pieces again. If this was the case, then she likely had commitments to wear certain things, like the Max Mara coats, which would explain why she had them on when it was 80 degrees.”
I also included how once September hits – Fall wardrobes kick in. InStyle did a post on Instagram about how the Olsen twins were wearing heavy wool coats that same week while out and about in NYC. I actually used to do this with my work wardrobe and with my school wardrobe – I changed my wardrobed based on the season, not the temp. Darker colors pulled out for Fall, lighter colors pulled out in March for Spring. Even if we had a snowstorm on March 21st. 🙂 – Hope this helps, Susan

Wonderful supplemental information!

These ensembles were flat out stunning from head to toe. I love the color palette she is drawn to: navy, olive, camel, burgundy…all colors I enjoy wearing as well.
Gorgeous accessories and her poise and confident were certainly evident with every outing and outfit.
I am loving how things are unfolding for our throughly modern Meghan!! Good works, good outings, and (not nearly as important, but highly enjoyable for us here) good clothes.
Lolly says
Thanks for all your hard work! I enjoyed this tremendously. She really shines in that red outfit – knocked my socks off! I also think there’s a fancy & sign between Archie & Lili. I love what they’re doing so much and I’m glad to see them in the spotlight this week!
WhatMeghanWore says
Hi Lolly, We also thought it could be an ampersand (&) between Archie and Lili but in several photos we reviewed we were leaning more towards the heart. Hopefully she wears it again and we will get a better look. Thanks, Susan
