Meghan turned heads once again at the LA Children’s Hospital Fundraising Gala Saturday evening. (Pictured below arriving with her friend, Kelly McKee Zajfen.)
The Duchess of Sussex wowed in a daring red Carolina Herrera gown, complete with a plunging neckline and a striking thigh-high slit. ‘

The event, which raised funds for the hospital, was filled with Hollywood stars, including performances by Demi Lovato and appearances from celebrity presenters like Jamie Lee Curtis and Kaley Cuoco.

Actress and Foundation Board of Trustees Chair, Nikki DeLoach arrives for the event.
Nikki had shared with me in December 2022 how she was involved with CHLA after her son, Bennett, spent time at the hospital in 2017 when he was just 12 hours old for a heart condition. After several life-saving heart surgeries and a number of visits for her other son, it’s a place that is very “near and dear” to her and her husband.

“Outside of the fact that Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles has provided exceptional care for our two boys, one of the most special and important aspects of this hospital is the fact that they provide that same level of care for every child who enters its doors, regardless of their socio-economic situation or health insurance. CHLA is one of very few safety net hospitals left in our country. Because of the generous donations of so many, CHLA turns no child away!”

The gala, known for its dedication to supporting children’s health initiatives, marked another important charitable cause the Duchess has thrown her support behind. As a mother of two, Meghan’s passion for children’s advocacy and health continues to shine through in her public appearances.
Meghan is a young attendee, Ella Nelson.
From an interview upon arriving at the gala, Meghan had this to say —
“Oh my goodness, the work they do at Children’s Hospital L.A. is otherworldy, and I think from my standpoint as a mother, no one wants to be in a position where you need to go to a place like this, but if you have to, the best place in the world you could go would be Children’s Hospital L.A.,” she said.

Meghan looks absolutely lovely in this red dress & shoes. She looks so chic & polished and I especially love her wavy, curly hair!
Definitely an improvement from the first time she wore this dress. But there’s something not quite right and I’m not sure what the problem is. The darts around the bust are certainly awkward. They don’t appear in the retailer’s pictures, so I don’t know why they are so prominent in Meghan’s fitting. I keep thinking that perhaps a change in fabric would improve the fit. Something with more stretch and less stiffness. I’m sorry she doesn’t look her best. But I’m glad she gave it another shot and attended an event deserving of such publicity.
I am happy to see the re-wear but the dress still doesn’t fit well. It bunches and looks awkward. A children’s hospital event doesn’t seem like the right place to wear a plunging neckline and a big slit.
I wasn’t a fan of the first wear. It was just weird and didn’t fit right and didn’t like the hair with it but this time I’m blown away! She looks sooo goood!! The hair and strappy heels were just perfect! Love it!
It is gorgeous!,
I think I like this dress even less than I did before. But kudos for recycling l such an expensive dress and kudos for supporting such an amazing organization!! Her hair & makeup look pretty blah (compared to some of her previously worn beautiful dramatic smokey-eye makeup that truly made her brown eyes pop). Despite the bold, vivacious color, this whole look is just a complete no, its very disappointing & very lacking, especially considering all the fashion options & opportunities she may/should possibly be surrounded by out there in sunny California.
Love the red but much like the first wear the bust darts appear to be badly constructed and making her chest area focal point with awkward seams.
I like her wavy hair, maybe not with this dress that feels very formal but I know in CA a more relaxed style is fashionable.
Her hair looks nice here with some curl to it. This dress is one of my favorites of her formal outfits, I like it even better without the big skirt attached. She looks very “California Laidback.”
Me too, love the sleek look it gives
This dress looks so much better without the puffy overskirt. Without that added weight at her hips, Meghan looks taller, slimmer and, in my opinion, more comfortable! I’ve always disliked how much fabric Herrera uses in her designs. Less is more!
The only thing I don’t like about this look is Meghan’s hair. It looks like messy, beach waves, which are out of place in a gala event like this. I wish she had worn her hair pulled back or, if left loose, with more defined curls. But red is definitely a color that suits her and I like the minimalist jewelry. Always so happy when they rewear a dress, especially one as expensive as this!
I don’t care for the style of this dress, but Meghan looks great in red.
