Meghan’s Affordable Maternity Looks

April 28, 2021 by Rachel Burchfield and Susan Courter Leave a Comment

In what might be called the understatement of the year, a lot has changed since Meghan’s first pregnancy in late 2018 and early 2019. Because of these changes – including the fact that we are still in the throes of a global pandemic – we aren’t seeing as much of Meghan and, consequently, what she’s wearing during her second pregnancy. Thankfully, we have looks from Meghan’s first pregnancy to look back on, including two royal tours’ worth of outfits to admire. Meghan’s pregnancy with Archie was punctuated with many, many high-end designers – Dior, Valentino, Carolina Herrera and Givenchy – but also with pieces that you and I could afford without the purchases completely breaking our banks. Here’s a few affordable looks from Meghan’s maternity style that us regular folks can fill our closets with.

Blazers

Aritzia was one of Meghan’s favorite lines while pregnant, and I love her in this blazer by the brand while she and Harry were on tour in Morocco in February 2019. (It looks like Aritzia is currently out of the white, but you can get the exact same style in black.)

The next month, in March 2019, Meghan wore this Ralph Lauren blazer to WE Day U.K. Meghan also wore affordable Club Monaco and Alice + Olivia blazers while pregnant.

Here are some affordable #RepliMeghan styles to get her look.

(Clockwise) Boden Framlingham blazer ($180) / Banana Republic Factory Washable Navy Plaid Blazer ($78) / J. Crew Original Schoolboy Blazer ($74 – use code LETSGO for 15% off $100 purchase) / Old Navy Classic Ponte-Knit Blazer for Women ($45) / Old Navy Linen-Blend Blazer for Women ($40) / J. Crew Going-out blazer in stretch twill ($126) / H&M shawl-collar jacket in cream ($50) / Banana Republic Factory Classic Black Blazer ($72) / A Pea in a Pod ponte maternity blazer ($52) / Ingrid & Isabel Adjustable Waist Ponte Knit Maternity Blazer ($80)

Jeans

Meghan’s denim game was strong during pregnancy. She wore these J. Crew high-rise toothpick jean in Charcoal ($128) while on tour in New Zealand in October 2018, and, at the Invictus Games Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge in October 2018, Meghan wore The Looker Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans jeans from Mother Denim ($196). Meghan also favored the brand Outland Denim ($190) during these months.

Dresses

Since Meghan was pregnant during cooler months she wore a lot of coats during the chilly winter months in London, so we couldn’t always see the look she had on underneath. In January 2019 for her official visit to Smart Works as Royal Patron, Meghan famously put Hatch on the map wearing The Eliza Dress ($228 still available) by the label (she may have also worn Hatch’s maternity jeans ($248) while in New York, February 2019).

While on tour in Tonga in October 2018, Meghan stunned in a dress from Self-Portrait. While the dress is no longer available the entire line is worth a look.

As far as reasonably priced dresses go that aren’t high-end designer, Club Monaco was a favorite, as were H&M Maternity and Reiss.

(Clockwise) At Hubb Community Kitchen, November 2018 wearing Club Monaco ‘Sallyet’ dress / January 2019 at the Mayhew in H&M / International Women’s Day, March 2019 wearing Reiss, the ‘Azzura Swirl’ dress.

Tops

While on tour in New Zealand in October 2018, Meghan wore this Jac + Jack ‘Twain’ sweater ($499), and, while visiting Sussex, UK in October 2018, Meghan wore a blouse by & Other Stories.

Flats

Meghan wore plenty of heels during her pregnancy, but did wear flats on occasion, like these Birdie’s ‘The Blackbird’ ( $140 – click here for $20 off your first order) that she wore in New Zealand in October 2018. That same month but this time in Australia, Meghan opted for these Rothy’s point flats ($140 – click here to receive $20 off your order).

More recently Meghan wore these maternity style pieces in March and April 2021.

For her interview with Oprah in March of this year, Meghan wore:
Jacket: J. Crew perfect light-weight jacket ($128)
Shirt: white button-down shirt – try these styles from Artizia – Ocala Button-Up Shirt ($88) or the Everlane – the Linen Relaxed shirt ($58)
Jeans: unknown
Boots: Hunter Tall Rain Boots in black ($160)

For the couple’s pregnancy announcement photo in March 2021, Meghan wore this dress from La Ligne, the Pyper style in sage, $395 (currently unavailable).

Finally, for a special surprise appearance on the Late Late Show with James Corden, she wore what appears to be a navy blue smocked puff sleeve dress. We’re thinking it could be this dress from Rhodes – the Harper Off-The-Shoulder Shirred Cotton-Gauze Maxi Dress, retail $365.

Last Wednesday, Meghan was spotted out with Archie wearing these pieces. (Please note, we will not be posting the photos of Meghan and Archie out of respect for privacy.)

Meghan’s Outfit:
Jacket:
Cuyana Anorak Coat ($295)
Jeans: Madewell Maternity Side-Panel Perfect Vintage Jeans in Coffey Wash ($138) – (maternity style no longer available – try this similar style) — the jeans are available in the non-maternity style here ($138).
Shoes: Valentino Garavani Roman Stud Flat mule in light ivory calfskin ($770), shoes also available here ($563)
Face covering: Rothy’s ‘The Mask’ Face Mask ($25) – click here to receive $20 off your order.
Archie’s lunchbox and backpack: PlanetBox Space Rover Carry Bag ($30) and Trixie Mr. Hippo backpack available here ($60) and here (€40 euro).
