Harry and Meghan along with her mother, Doria Ragland, are in New York City tonight for the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision awards.
Meghan is being honored with the Women of Vision award for her lifelong advocacy for girls and women — Gloria Steinem is presenting the Duchess of Sussex with the award.
Ms. Steinem founded the feminist Ms. magazine in 1972, and a year later, she teamed up with Patricia Carbine, Letty Cottin-Pogrebin and Marlo Thomas to establish the Ms. Foundation for Women, dedicated to securing rights, equality and justice for women.

Tonight’s awards. which mark the 50th anniversary of the Ms. Foundation, is honoring four “Women of Vision,” who are described as feminist changemakers — The Duchess of Sussex along with LaTosha Brown, founder of Black Voters Matter, Wanda Irving, co-founder of Dr. Shalon’s Maternal Action Project and Kimberly Inez McGuire, the executive director of Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity and a leader in the reproductive justice movement.

Per Women of Vision, Meghan is described as a “feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity, and global role model.”
Ms. Steinem told People magazine that Meghan is a “great human being.” — more below:
I’m not an expert on the media, but it seems to me that she is different from the picture of her in the media,” the feminism activist told PEOPLE. “She’s smart and funny and devoted to social issues.”

Meghan’s longtime friends, Markus Anderson and Genevieve Hillis as well as Meghan’s new agent, Jill Smoller (also Serena William’s agent) were also in attendance at tonight’s event.
Tonight’s event was held at the Ziegfeld Ballroom, New York City.

Meghan’s dress is the Johanna Ortiz Ideal Universe Midi-Dress in gold, $1850. The Duchess had the straps removed.
UPDATE 5/17: There has been some debate over the color of Meghan’s shoes. Initially we thought she was wearing the bronze version of the style. Others suggested they are gold. After scouring over photos, we’re not absolutely sure which colorway meghan is wearing and therefore show both below.

The Duchess carried the Carolina Herrera ‘Metropolitan Insignia’ clutch in yellow, $1200 (no longer available).
Meghan’s earrings are the J. Crew Trapezoid stone hoop earrings, $40 (no longer available).
She also wore her go-to Cartier ‘Love’ bracelet along with Diana’s diamond tennis bracelet and another unidentified diamond tennis bracelet.
UPDATE: We’ve had some inquiries about what Doria wore for the event. So far, we’ve been able to identify the shoes – they are the Tabitha Simmons ‘Millie’ Black Suede Slingback Pump. Meghan wore these pumps while on the Royal Tour Australia/South Pacific so we’re wondering if Doria borrowed these from her.

UPDATE 5/17: Some disturbing news to report after last night’s awards.
Last night, Harry, Meghan and Doria Ragland were pursued by paparazzi after leaving the Women of Vision Awards in New York City. The incident lasted from about 10pm until around 12am. The couple did shelter in place at a local precinct before attempting to leave again in a cab only to return to the precinct about 10 minutes later. Their security detail, Chris Sanchez (a former secret service officer) commented to CNN – “Chris Sanchez, speaking exclusively to CNN, said the incident was alarming. “I have never seen, experienced anything like this,” he said. “What we were dealing with was very chaotic. There were about a dozen vehicles: cars, scooters and bicycles. The public were in jeopardy at several points. It could have been fatal.” – The Sussexes were scared – but were relieved when they returned to the apartment where they were staying.
Earlier today The Daily Mail and Express posted video and photos in an article today before deleting the posts.
We’re so glad that the couple and Doria are safe and will continue to not support these publications and others like it.

The shoes don’t fit the shape of her feet. The dress accentuates her rectangle silhouette and the fabric looks like curtain fabric. A big miss for me.
She should have left the straps on…
Meghan needs to stick to the “rule of one.” Either a midriff peakaboo or a strapless top or a high slit. But not all three!
Meghan’s hair and makeup looked incredible. This entire look is giving her suits-era style. In the first photos i didn’t like the dress at all, but she simply glowed under the stage lights giving her speech, and on the red carpet. The Tom Ford shoes are killer. I don’t know how she walks in them.
I hope she attends the gracie’s after everything. she deserves not to live life in fear.
The dress looks nice, but I dislike the fabric, patterning and color of fabric. I would have preferred the dress to have the straps instead of without.

YES MA’AM!!!!
Now that’s what I am talking about! This is a stunning dress that to me actually fits her well. It shows off her incredible shoulders her glowing skin and the way she looks up at her husband with so much love like…squeal. This was absolutely perfect and the gold just pops on her skin, Her hair for once doesn’t look tied back so tight it’s giving her a headache and her shoes are great. The little cut out is cheeky but respectful at the same time. Not one hundred percent sure I like the texture of the fabric and maybe she could have added a necklace (but that’s only because I would have worn one) but compared to some of the stuff she’s worn I think this is easily in her top ten post Royal looks as there is no way in hell that she could have worn something like that at a royal engagement.
Not gonna lie I am kinda sad we didn’t see her at the Coronation cause I think her fashion choice would have been very interesting but the decision to stay for Archie’s birthday seems a very normal one. I don’t subscribe to it being malicious as some people have said rather the act of a normal Mom.
Speaking of Mom’s stand out for Doria’s dress, very nice, tasteful, love the sleeves. She knows what looks good on her and she sticks to it.

Meghan looks great but that dress looks too much like furniture upholstery. It fits her really well though and that’s something we don’t often see with her dresses.
