In a star-studded night dedicated to supporting first responders and emergency services, Harry and Meghan graced the One805 First Responder Fundraiser in Santa Barbara hosted by actor Kevin Costner, who is also an ambassador to the charity. The soirée, held in Santa Barbara on Mr. Costner’s estate, was a celebration of community spirit and a fundraiser for a noble cause. While the focus remained on supporting this important initiative, all eyes inevitably turned to the glamorous couple.
Below, local cafe owner Alessia Guehr, beamed with delight as Harry and Meghan gave Alessia Patisserie & Cafe’s high tea their seal of approval.
Against the picturesque backdrop of Santa Barbara, attendees gathered to stand in solidarity with the brave men and women who serve as first responders in the area. The purpose of the fundraiser was twofold: to raise essential funds and to honor the tireless dedication of these local heroes.
The evening was a blend of warmth and philanthropy, an occasion where the Santa Barbara community came together to express its appreciation for the unwavering commitment of first responders. These individuals are at the forefront of ensuring the safety and well-being of the community, and this event underscored their vital role.

Meghan effortlessly exuded elegance in a stylish ensemble that seamlessly blended casual and sophistication. Her choice of a black and ivory Carolina Herrara tweed cape, a timeless fashion statement, was paired with impeccably tailored black crop trousers. This outfit choice perfectly accentuated her natural grace and beauty.
Harry, every bit the dashing prince, complemented Meghan’s look with a finely tailored black jacket and black shirt. Their coordinated fashion sense not only showcased their impeccable style but also symbolized their unity, making them an unforgettable pair at the event.

However, it wasn’t just their fashion choices that captivated the audience. Harry and Meghan’s presence at the One805 Live event underscored their unwavering commitment to charitable endeavors and their dedication to making a positive impact on the community.
Below a look at the events special guests.
Once again, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex demonstrated their ability to effortlessly blend style with a profound sense of purpose. Their attendance at the One805 Live event reaffirmed their ongoing mission to leave a lasting, positive mark on the world, one charitable event at a time.
If you would like to donate to One805, please see the link here.
I also encourage you, if feasible, to seek out local community charities that support first responders for your own contributions. At What Meghan Wore, we make annual donations to our local first responders in tribute to my husband, a retired police officer who now serves as a special school officer at his former elementary school. This is our way of showing appreciation and giving back to those who tirelessly serve our community.
Now our look at what Meghan wore for last night’s event.
The Duchess wore the Carolina Herrera oversized tweed cape in black and ivory from the designer’s Fall Winter 13/14 Collection (no longer available).
Here is a similar style from Aran Sweater Market, $525.
She wore her Manolo Blahnik ‘Campari’ polka dot mesh pumps — first seen at the Invictus Games opening ceremony, April 2022. Updated version available at Saks, $845.
Her earrings are the Tabayer ‘Oera’ gold earrings, $3900, she has worn previously.
Watch and bracelet are her staple “everyday” worn pieces – Cartier ‘Love’ bracelet and Diana’s gold Tank watch.
She also appears to be wearing her Lorraine Schwartz emerald cut pink ring. A piece she first wore in 2021 for the Time100 cover shoot.

Meghan tends to wear items that seem very out of season, others are dressed in warm weather clothing and she is wearing a wool blended cape. This also happened in NYC, she wore heavy coats when the temps were 70-80.
This particular cape seems to just be too oversized and over powered her petite frame. It is chic and stylish but seems out of place to me when compared to the other attendees attire.

I agree JB. I find that she often wears clothing that is out of place for the event she is attending (over dressed, too big, too tight, too long etc.). Harry always seems to be dressed to fit the occasion. Granted it is much easier for a man (my opinion). But when she gets it right (and she has) she looks beautiful.

Re The cape, which I just fabulous. The cape is from the collection 2022 Carolina Herrera, I have just purchased it for half price from a CH Outlet shop!

Hi B, that’s interesting because there was information online from Vogue I think it was, that said it was a 2013 collection piece. Thanks for letting me know this. Thanks, Susan

She’s had this cape in her closet since 2013 and we’re only just seeing it? What other goodies is she holding back sartorially? It really exudes “wealthy California chic” style. Very effortless and nice to see her and Harry supporting causes in their local community.
Janet says
Great to see them out with their neighbors in support of their community. She looks so stylish, as always.

Meghan looks amazing. The poncho and the way Meghan styled it was perfection.
Maureen says
Just had to write to say I think she looks amazing in this. The colours and style suit her so well. She glows!
Queentim says
Wow! 13/14??
Makes me wonder what else she had in storage for so long that we’re only going to see now!
This looks nice on her. I don’t think I could pull it off.
Norma says
Glad they were out supporting the wonderful men and women who do an amazing job protecting Mother Earth!
Shelly says
Love the shoes and she looks wonderful in this cape. She must have a great tailor because most of these designer clothing are not made for shorter women. My question concerns the cape which as I said I do love but when others are wearing short sleeves it seems out of place esp given the temp was in the low 70s.

Hi Shelly,
Not sure what the weather was like that evening. I think she tends to get cold easily. – Thx, Susan
Shellly says
Good point. I remember her wearing a trench coat early on so perhaps she does run cold but again it is a lovely cape and timeless. In fashion now even though it is 10 years old, which I find remarkable.
Jessica says
The Duchess is 5’6″, which is 2 inches taller than the average US woman. I realize she seems short in comparison with Harry, Catherine, and William, but in the grand scheme of things she is not a “shorter woman.”

Hi Ann – thanks for pointing that out. I’m not sure where the confusion was in the collection year and why I had 2022! I’ll update the post. Thanks again! – Susan

You are most welcome!

Meghan was right to wear a cape fue to excessively refrigerated indoor events, especially around Santa Barbara. She looked stunningly casual.
So what? She wore it in style, years later. That says a lot for Carolina Herrera’s style and endless good and glamorous desighs
