  1. The trousers do not suit her at all – too wide, too high and too long. A cap-sleeved knit top would have worked. The earrings are nice.

  2. Meghan does monochromatic so well! While I enjoyed the over all look she was going for here; the pants are just to overwhelming (in a bad way).

  3. The Duchess looks great, but I don’t like this outfit. The pants are too wide legged and baggy, I realize its the fashion, but not a fan. The cut out top/sweater I don’t like either. Regardless of my taste, she looks good.

  4. I am usually all about a very slim cut pant, but I absolutely adore the wide pants here. I think I like it so much because of the slim, fitted halter that contrasts with it. The line looks fresh. I would love a RepliMeghan suggestion for these pants!! (and overall, what a wonderful trip, they both look great and so relaxed and happy!)

  5. I think Meghan really and truly could benefit from a stylist or at least someone who can look at her figure and her current wardrobe and help her put together a much smarter, polished, flattering wardrobe. This is especially noticeable after the magazine The Cut, where all of the pieces were picked to flatter Meghan’s figure and it showed. We know how beautiful and put together she can look, and now that our appetites have been whet, we want more.

    • I agree that a stylist would be a wise choice. This is just a complete miss for me, the style, the fit and the appropriateness. The previous day’s red was perfect, although there were a lot of rings. Perhaps I am just too focused on letting the venue and occasion influence choices.

      • Venue and occasion absolutely should influence what a person wears, especially for someone in a position like Meghan’s. Even today, we don’t see celebrities wear denim at the Oscars. That just looks, well, inappropriate! It’s black tie. This is a business event, so she should be dressed accordingly. The trousers are a smart choice (I myself, a petite woman, love a good palazzo pant. Gives me some presence.) The top doesn’t match; had she worn, say, a matching, well-tailored blazer to the trouser, we could ignore the shirt. How you mix and match pieces is important. It gives you presence, shows what you think of your job (if you have one) and how you feel about yourself.

  6. I realise that this website is about clothes! but I sincerely hope that one of the ways in which Meghan lives an exemplary life is to dress for her own self confidence, comfort and taste. She has often been criticised by the UK press for talking too much politically correct stuff about gender and equality but whatever her critics complain about, the fact is that she is a role model for many. So I think that to dress appropriate to the occasion is a good example, and this mix of summer comfort and comparative relaxed profile (note Harry’s dressing down too) fits the occasion. Note – no fascinator, hat, gloves or handbag! Incidentally, thank you for this website – a necessary antidote to the warfare being waged by Sky News, Daily Mail, et al.

  7. Sorry, but this is just not a red carpet look! The trousers are, once again, way too big and unflattering. The top is weirdly skimpy – yes, it was hot in Dusseldorf today, but given that Meghan has in the past worn heavy coats at this time of year I doubt heat was a much of a motivating factor. The whole look is completely out of place. (And yes, I realise the only other woman photographed on the red carpet, wearing yellow, beige, and black, doesn’t look much dressier. I am German and I find there is quite a poor fashion culture there, so this doesn’t surprise me.) I’m afraid this look is a total miss for me.

    • Larissa, although there was literally a red carpet laid down, it was not what one would typically consider a “red carpet” event which typically occurs in the evening and where women wear gowns or fancy dress.

This was a day time announcement of a military sporting event for disabled vets.

I agree that the top was inappropriate for the event with military and political dignitaries. I know that she likes that cut because it shows off her nice shoulders from the front (but looks too broad from the back) and possibly it might have worked in a looser, non stretch material. But with this tight, clingy fabric and lack of a good bra, it did nothing for her or the event. And the billowy trousers looked like evening wear.

A light weight bolero cut sweater or jacket an narrower trousers would have helped. As would have a re-wear of several short sleeve sweater and skirt combos that she already has. She also has several dresses from her early days in the UK that I liked and that would still be considered stylish, including a yellow Brandon Maxwell and a black (or dark blue?) Brandon Maxwell. There was also a nice blue Caroline Herrera.

  8. Love the look, for Meghan at least.

I’m not a fan of the long pants (am a fan of the huge wide leg look) just not the length, still, it’s what she likes so there’s not much to do about that. More than the outfit being to taste, the person wearing it has to feel comfortable and confident.

I’m much more of a fan of the all black outfit but that also just seems to be my taste. I can’t wait to see what’s she’s going to wear tomorrow.

  9. Not keen. The trousers are practically up to her armpits and I’m not a fan of the ‘no feet’ look. The top really doesn’t work and going, what appears to be braless, in a skimpy top, seems inappropriate. It looks like she’s being consumed by the trousers!

    • As someone who also lacks much of a middle area, I’d have to ask how she could avoid trousers being almost up to her armpits!

      • I am also short waisted. As much as I would like to adopt the high waisted trouser style, I just can’t avoid l the trousers going to my bra line.

So I don’t wear this style of trouser.. I go for something with a lower waist… or wear high waist trousers with a short top that is not tucked in, but rather sits over the trousers and which therefore lengthens the torso.

    • I completely agree, it’s like these pants have totally engulfed her bottom half. Idk if it’s bad tailoring or wrong style pant for her body measurements but I am wholeheartedly not a fan of Meghan in this particular pants silhouette. I do love the top & her studs but overall this is a wrinkly, frumpy mess. (It’s great to see Prince Harry smiling and looking a lil bit relaxed!!!)

  10. Meghan is such a beautiful woman, but this outfit is a miss for me. The trousers overwhelm her, and the skimpy top does not help to balance the look. She looks so great in vibrant colors; I wish she would wear them more often.
