5Today, Harry and Meghan attended the Grand Champions Polo Club for a noble cause – the Royal Salute Polo Challenge benefiting Sentebale.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were warmly greeted by the gathering crowd. Shuttling to the field’s far west end at the National Polo Center, they paused for photos with Sentebale executives and close friends, including renowned polo player Nacho Figueras and his wife, Delfina, who also attended the event.
While Harry and Nacho geared up for their match, Meghan and Delfina settled into the temporary viewing area, eagerly anticipating the spirited game ahead. Serena Williams was also in attendance along with Nacho and Delfina’s daughter, Alba.

This isn’t Harry’s first involvement with polo in Wellington. In 2016, a similar Sentebale charity event took place at Valiente Polo Farms, where Harry swiftly played the match before heading to Orlando. Following the trophy presentation, Harry was slated to attend a dinner at the Santa Rita Polo Farm in Wellington, underscoring his commitment to the cause.

As a co-founder of Sentebale, Prince Harry is deeply invested in its mission to support children in Lesotho and Botswana, combating poverty and health challenges like HIV. The organization’s name, “Sentebale,” meaning “forget-me-not” in Sesotho, reflects its dedication to ensuring no child is overlooked or forgotten.

Beyond his philanthropic endeavors, Harry recently participated in a panel discussion at Zaytinya in South Beach, addressing pressing issues of health, wealth inequality, and climate change facing African youth. Read more about it from People here.
The Royal Salute Polo Challenge featured three teams: Royal Salute Sentebale, Grand Champions, and Maseru. Harry’s team included esteemed players like 10-goaler Poroto Cambiaso, Malcolm Borwick (5), and Dana Barnes (0), showcasing his passion and skill for the sport.

Wellington has a storied history of hosting royalty, dating back to Prince Charles’ visits over four decades ago, which contributed to the village’s global recognition as a polo hub. Following in his father’s footsteps, Prince Harry has embraced polo, particularly since relocating to Montecito, California, in 2020, where he actively trains and competes at the Santa Barbara Polo Club.

In other exciting news, Harry and Meghan have recently been announced as executive producers of two Netflix projects, one of which focuses on polo and is filmed primarily in Wellington. Cameras even trailed the couple during Friday’s event, offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of polo. More from Deadline here.
The forthcoming polo series, shot at the U.S. Open Polo Championship, promises to capture the intensity and passion of the sport, shedding light on the dedication required to compete at its highest levels.
Now our look at what Meghan wore.
Meghan wore a new dress from one of her go-to bands, Heidi Merrick — the ‘Ginger’ dress in ivory silk and hemp, $515.
RESTOCK UPDATE: I spoke with Heidi Merrick and the dress will be restocked! Please be sure to check back here for more updates and the link to the dress for orders.
Her sunglasses are also from Heidi Merrick – the ‘Santa Barbara’ style, $215. She first wore the sunglasses while in Texas for the couple’s visit to a local restaurant.
She also wore her Aquazzura ‘Purist’ Pump 105 in beige, $750. More sizes available here and here. Meghan first wore the shoes in March 2020 for the Commonwealth Services, London.
The Duchess carried her Valentino Garavani One Stud Chain-Linked Crossbody Bag, retail $3,023 now $2,602.30. She was first seen carrying the bag at the 2022 Invictus Games.
Her earrings are a pair of vintage Chanel gold button/disk earrings. Thanks to Elizabeth Holmes for providing the information on these from the Archewell team.
Here are some similar vintage Chanel styles below.
Vintage Chanel button earrings, $650 / Chanel authentic vintage gold earrings simple circa 1995, $827 / Chanel Gold Plated CC Logos 31 Rue Cambon Vintage Clip Earrings, $434
Here is one option we found to “get the look” – Shien 18k gold plated, $4.70
We are hoping to see more photos later this evening or tomorrow from the event. Please check back for any additional information and photos!
UPDATE 4/15: Meghan and Harry attended a celebratory dinner Friday evening – photos shared by Nacho Figuera on Instagram.
Meghan wore a dress from St. Agni – the ‘Hudson’ Midi Dress in black, $465.
Her earrings are vintage Dior – Crystal & Enamel Doorknocker Earrings.
She also wore a pair of Mach & Mach shoes – we’re hoping to see more photos showing the shoes.
Here are a few options she may have worn the brand’s Double Bow 95MM Silk & Crystal Pumps, $970 or Crystal Double Bow Square Toe Slide Sandal, $850 or the Double Crystal Bow Pointed Toe Pump, $1145.
Our guess is that she wore the pumps.
Thanks to Elizabeth Holmes for confirming the outfit and Pearl K on X for finding the dress.
UPDATE 4/13: There was an additional photo that came out showing Meghan today, which looks like it may have been taken by a hotel guest, however since we aren’t sure, we’re not posting any part of the photo. We had heard that there was an event last night and possibly something additional today. She is wearing white jeans, a black sleeveless top and carrying a straw style tote bag – it is the Cesta Collective ‘Taco Tote’ in the color-way Olive Grove, $850.
UPDATE 4/14: Meghan and Harry were spotted filming the polo documentary for Netflix on Sunday. We are not showing any photos as they were pap photos. She had on a pair of white trousers, a blue linen shirt (that looks like perhaps it was Harry’s shirt) and a pair of Hermès ‘Oran’ in either a white or nude color way, $760.

Meghan is a beauty in this chic, clean, crisp white dress. And I love the elegant black dress she wore to dinner. ❤️
LouiseK says
I think the dress is lovely and fits well. I don’t think it looks overdressed, especially compared to what some of the other women were wearing. Her shoes were probably a tad too high, and wedges might have looked better. But that’s probably just my personal preference.
I am disappointed that the bow on the back of the dress is not actually in her hair. When I saw the shot of her kissing Prince Harry, I thought the bow was tying back her hair and I really liked it — seemed vintage-y. Is it weird that I don’t like it on the dress, but would love it if it was a hair accessory!?
Paisley25 says
Diana wore a number of Chanel button style earrings over the years. Could these vintage ones have been hers?
WhatMeghanWore says
Hi Paisley, I was thinking the same thing! I haven’t had a chance to search for similar styles Diana may have worn – I don’t recall any off the top of my head. Check back for updates! – Thanks, Susan
Allison says
I really love the earrings. It would be great to finally see some more of Diana’s jewelry, so hope these were hers.
RattanRattan says
Hi Paisley and Susan! I also suspect they might be Diana’s earrings.
Have a look at Diana’s Jewels. Contenders could be the third option from the top. Diana also wore a similar style by Chanel, with a circle of black enamel wrapping around a pearl center (third option from the bottom).
It wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine that Chanel made a logo-less, gold-toned version of these earrings for Diana!
Allison says
That’s a wonderful collection!
Leila says
She’s stunning but she overdressed, as often. And what to Say about this choice of high heels ?!
L says
No, she is not overdressed for this particular event. She looks great in the dress & heels.
WhatMeghanWore says
Hi Leila, For past Polo events, Meghan, along with other Royal family members, have always dressed up and worn heels. Diana and Catherine have both worn dresses and heels when presenting trophies at the events. There is a photo I included of Diana at a polo event in a dress and heals. In 2018 Meghan wore a denim Carolina Herrera dress with heels. Hope this helps. Thanks, Susan
Carolyn says
This dress looks lovely on her. I really like the bow detail. Its just too bad that it looks so wrinkled, especially in the bust.
LK says
Love the style of the dress, wish it was shorter, but I’m glad it fits her! It’s also too bad it wrinkles so badly, but that’s just the nature of the fabric.
Allison says
Well, I love it! Silk and hemp will wrinkle, but I love how the skirt moves when she walks. Minimal coverage but beautiful. Love the earrings, too.
