Fashion Flashback Friday: Meghan’s Coats Part 4 — Parkas and Jackets (Updated)

December 11, 2020 by Susan Courter 2 Comments

We’re back with our Fashion Flashback Friday series – Meghan’s Coats. In this piece we’ll take a look at parkas and jackets that Meghan has worn over the years.

Starting with heavy winter jackets, this Album di Famiglia Lina Corto puffy coat is a stylish warm look. Meghan wore the jacket in December 2016 when she was walking her beagle, Guy, in Toronto.

©SplashNews

The Album di Famiglia Lina Corto puffy coat in black, retail $910, has a shawl collar, hooded tie closure, side slit pockets and is semi-fitted. Sadly the coat is no longer available.

We found these #MatchMeg style options to choose from to get the look:
Garnet Hill – the packable puffer coat, $229 / Loft Puffer Coat, $200 – NOW 50% off with code Joy / Cole Haan Signature Asymmetrical Pillow-Collar Puffer Coat, retail $275 – NOW $115 with code FRIEND / Aritzia Babaton Duvet Puffer Short jacket, $275.

For something a little longer to keep extra warm in cold temps, this TNA Britannia Parka from Aritzia looks like the perfect choice. Meghan was first seen wearing the coat while out in Toronto, December 2016.

The TNA Britannia Jacket is a 3-in-1 parka crafted from water-repllent cotton fabric. It has a hood trimmed in faux-fur with an adjustable drawcord, faux-sherpa inner layer and zippered pockets.

This Barbour ‘Epler’ Faux Fur Trim Waterproof Parka in Seaweed Green, retail $308 — similar here — was worn by Meghan several times when she was living and working in Canada.

credit: ©Splash News – March 2017

The ‘Epler’ jacket is waterproof and breathable, finished with inner wadding for added warmth making it ideal for keeping the cold, wet weather at bay.

Get Meghan’s look with these alternative parka choices.
Eddie Bauer Yukon Classic® Down Parka, on sale $149 / Abercrombie & Fitch Sherpa-Lined Military Parka, on sale $100 / Banana Republic Factory, Water-Resistant Parka With Faux Fur Collar, on sale $119 / Aritzia TNA Summit Parka, $164

The Soia & Kyo ‘Saundra’ Down Coat, retail $695, has a slight A-line silhouette, mid-length with a dramatic face-framing hood trimmed in removable coyote fur. Meghan wore the piece in November 2017 while on the set of her tv show Suits and again while at the airport in Vancouver, Ca, January 2020.

Try these styles to get the look — Lauren Ralph Lauren hooded down coat, $240 — NOW $168, Eddie Bauer Yukon down parka, $135

While out shopping in London, February 2017, Meghan wore the Barbour Winter Durham Jacket in blue from J. Crew, retail $399. Barbour, an iconic heritage brand long a favorite of the British Royal family, crafted the coat from the company’s durable waxed cotton with a quilted lining which layers well in cool weather.

The SMYTHE faux fur collar ‘Flak’ jacket in Army green is certainly one of our favorite jackets Meghan has worn. It has front flap patch pockets, a detachable faux fur collar and button cuff sleeves. We first saw the jacket on Meghan while she was out shopping in Toronto with Jessica Mulroney, December 2016.

If you’re looking for an all season jacket, this Barbour Gustnado Waterproof Jacket in Mist, retail $219.91, is perfect. Inspired by Barbour’s reversible ‘Derby’ mac, the jacket features a waterproof twill shell and the company’s signature tartan lining. It was first seen on Meghan while heading back from yogo in Toronto, February 2017.

For the warmer months, Meghan was seen wearing this Soia & Kyo ‘Nollie’ jacket, February 2017 in Toronto.

Barbour’s ‘Cavalry’ Quilted Jacket in Navy, $280, is an equestrian-inspired style with a fleece lining. It is perfect for cooler Spring and Fall months. Meghan wore the jacket on her way to yoga in Toronto, April 2017.

The J.Crew Field mechanic jacket in Hillside Green is another piece we have seen Meghan wear many times over the years.. The earliest we saw the Duchess wear the jacket was when she was headed to yoga in Toronto, 2017. In 2018, she wore the jacket again while the couple was visiting Morocco and when she was spotted out in London with Harry shortly before Archie was born.

The jacket has a front zip closure with outer button placket, a stand collar with stowaway hood, four front button-flap pockets with one sleeve flap pocket, a tunneled drawstring at the waist and button-tab cuffs.

Get the look with these #MatchMegStyle options: J. Crew Lightweight utility jacket, $176 — 48% off with code 48Hours, Banana Republic Classic Utility Jacket, $116

Next we take look at Meghan’s collection of moto jackets — from convertible to collarless and mix media styles.

This first style is a convertible leather moto jacket by John + Jenn in Pachyderm grey, retail $349. The leather jacket has removable sleeves converting it into a vest.
For those that may not be aware, John + Jenn is a sister company to the Line (the label) brand that Meghan has often worn. The Duchess wore the jacket in London, November 2017, just before her and Harry’s engagement announcement.

We are loving the rose gold details on this Club Monaco ‘Christy’ black leather jacket, retail $695, that Meghan wore in an Instagram selfie, 2014, and again for a Toronto Sephora event, 2016.

The BlankNYC faux leather moto jacket, $60, Banana Republic’s vegan suede grey moto jacket, $151. The Walter Baker ‘Liz’ leather moto jacket, $200 and the Club Monaco leather moto jacket in black, $595.

For World MasterCard Fashion Week, Toronto, 2015, the Duchess wore this Mackage Nadja-D double-faced jersey jacket with mesh sleeves in White, retail $450. It is a double-faced jersey jacket with high-stand collar and mesh sleeves.

In a photoshoot for the piece, Meghan wore the Veronica Beard Bonita Biker Moto Jacket, retail $750. It is made with a unique breathable ottoman raffia fabric, making it a great layer for cool summer nights.

This Herve Leger ‘Devon’ Studded Asymmetric Leather Jacket, retail $1225, was worn by Meghan for New York Fashion Week at the Theatre at Lincoln Center, February 2014.

The Herve Leger by Max Azria jacket is crafted in studded leather. It has a mock collar with snap and an asymmetric front zip.

Another similar look to the Herve Leger jacket, sans studs, is this Fay leather and jersey jacket in black, retail $971, which was worn in a photoshoot for The Luxer magazine, 2016. The jacket is a mixed media piece crafted in leather and viscose jersey in the back. It has a crew-neck, three front zip pockets and a concealed zip fastener with two snap buttons.

I was so excited to see a TNA parka here because I also own one and I know Meghan is a huge Aritzia fan. It was a Christmas gift from a few years back and it is by far one of the warmest parkas I’ve ever owned. I think I tried every single TNA parka in the store (I am so particular about winter coats and how they fit) haha. It’s a bit heavy and not a lightweight coat but it sure keeps me warm when it’s below 40 degrees. I don’t own the same one as Meghan, they all vary and mine uses magnets in the coat lining to keep the zipper closure secure (so instead of buttons along the zipper, there are magnets I don’t know how to explain this well!). I also have magnets to keep the pockets closed too instead of zipper closures. I have never seen magnet closures used in coats before and dunno how common they are. But I highly recommend this parka if you’re heading to colder climates!

I especially love Meghan’s Club Monaco, Veronica Beard, and Mackage moto jackets they are all, so cute and so chic looking! She has such a good eye for stylish fashion moto jackets and coats in general.

So many great jackets in her closet! And there are more and more with each post. I love a good coat but I live in a much warmer area than London or Canada so sadly I dont get to break out a heavy one often. My favorites of these are the Smythe, the Madewell denim, the jcrew vest-thats such a comfy style outfit shes put together there, a staple in my fall/winter closet. And the leather jackets- love how they were styled with the dresses. Merry Christmas everyone!
