We got a special treat this week as the New York Magazine’s The Cut released their special issue cover and interview with Meghan.

The Cut’s Allison P. Davis sat down with Meghan to talk about her new podcast, life in Montecito, California and the road to healing. (I highly recommend reading the interview in it’s entirety but I will provide some key highlights.)

Meghan creates a bit of excitement at the start of the interview when she mentions “I’m getting back… on Instagram”. Alas, later in the interview she has second thoughts about it and so the question remains, will she or won’t she return to Instagram? I’m sure most of us are instantly taken back to her days of fun, uplifting Instagram posts when she had her blog, The Tig. If she does return, I don’t think it will be in anything like her old account,, but perhaps more to promote the work she and Harry are doing and their projects.
Below, some posts from Meghan’s old Instagram account.

A big part of Meghan agreeing to the interview is to promote her new podcast, Archetypes, which debuted last week and went straight to number 1 in a number of countries. The podcast will focus on “discussing the ways women are unfairly labeled” and she’ll dive into labels like Diva, Old Maid, Dragon Lady, Bimbo, Crazy, Angry Black Woman, the ”B-word” with various famous friends which include; Mindy Kaling, Constance Wu, Issa Rae, Lisa Ling, Margaret Cho, and Ziwe and this week’s guest, singer Mariah Carey.

The couple are also working on a documentary for Netflix of which she didn’t go into details, but from what we’ve read it will be something to do with all of the work and projects they’ve been doing.

She spoke of how they found their home in Montecito as well.
More from The Cut —
We were looking in this area” — she’s referring to Montecito and this house kept popping up online in searches.”
At first they weren’t going to look at the house as she and Harry didn’t have the Netflix or Spotify deal yet. However, they kept being pulled back to to the estate and finally went to see it and instantly fell in love with the house. There are two massive palm trees that sit on the property that Meghan pointed out to Allison. She had this to say —
“One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees,” she coos. “See how they’re connected at the bottom? He goes, ‘My love, it’s us.’ And now every day when Archie goes by us, he says, ‘Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.’ ”
Below a photo of their home showing the palm trees, bottom right along the path.

Harry and Meghan did everything they could to get the house —
“Because you walk in and go …” She takes a deep inhale through her nose and breathes out her mouth. “Joy. And exhale. And calm. It’s healing. You feel free.”
Harry eventually popped in during the interview and commented about the work they are doing on the house – fixing the pipes and more. He commented about how Meghan was gone the day before for her photoshoot for the magazine —
“You were gone for, like, ten hours yesterday,” he marvels to his wife. “Tell her the first thing you said when you got back last night,” he says, turning to me. “She said, ‘I’m not a model.’ “I was like, ‘No, you are, of course you can be a model.’ And she’s like, ‘I’m a mom!’ And it’s like, ‘You can be both,’ ” Harry says, earning himself so many points.
Definitely an ”awwwww” moment from Harry and their love for one another.
There home also serves as headquarters for Archewell in a shared office.

Archie also made an ”appearance” in the interview, but no photos (and I wouldn’t expect to see photos of either of the couple’s children for some time.) More below…
On their ride to pick up Archie from school Meghan talked about how they are currently working on manners with him— Meghan said, ”We always tell him: ‘Manners make the man.” After a big hug from Archie at the school gates, on the car ride home, Meghan reached in the back of the SUV and pulled out a new backpack, then handed it to her security detail to give to an unhoused man on the corner. They have been teaching Archie how some people “live in big houses, some in small, and that some are in between homes” so they make kits to pass out which include water, peanut-butter crackers and granola bars.
Meghan spoke of what it would’ve been like if Archie were going to school in the UK. She wouldn’t have been able to do the school pickup and drop-off without it being a royal photo call and a press pen of 40 people snapping pictures. This thought doesn’t sit well with Meghan.

At the end of the interview, Meghan was asked if she “thinks there is room for forgiveness between her and her royal in-laws and her own family.” Here’s what she had to say —
“I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive,” she says wisely. “But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I’ve really made an active effort, especially knowing that I can say anything,” she says, her voice full of meaning. And then she is silent. She breathes in and smiles and breathes out and says, “I have a lot to say until I don’t. Do you like that? Sometimes, as they say, the silent part is still part of the song.”

Now, our look at what Meghan wore in the photoshoot.

For the cover shot and first photo, she wore a black and white color block dress from Tory Burch – the Colorblock Tulle dress.

Her earrings are from Lanvin – brass & green “Strass Melodie’ earrings.

In the next photo, she wore a dress from Bottega Veneta – the Black Silk Dress from AW22 Ready to Wear Collection.

Her necklace is the Mikimoto 8” Akoya cultured pearl strand featuring 9×8.5mm A+ Akoya cultured pearls with a Mikimoto signature clasp in 18K white gold, $3470.

Her earrings are the Mateo 14k yellow gold Bypass Hoops with diamonds, $3750.

Below Meghan wore the Chanel Fantasy Tweed Dress from the Fall 2022 Ready to Wear Collection.

Her shoes (not clearly seen in the photo) are the Manolo Blahnik BB-Black Suede Pump, $725.
She is also wearing the Sophie Buhai Everyday Pearl earrings, $475.

In this final photo, the Duchess is wearing the Proenza Schouler Off-White Bi-Stretch Crepe Cinched Jacket, $1990 and Crepe Pant, $990.

Makeup artist Edwin Sandoval did Meghan’s makeup and used products from Pat McGrath.
The magazine will be available to purchase at news stands – look for Meghan the Stallion on the back cover which is the New Yorker as shown in the below post from Meghan’s stylist for the photoshoot, Jessica Willis.
We have an update on the blue and white striped pants Meghan wore in the photo for Lili’s 1st birthday party, they are the Boden ‘Penzance’ linen pants (past season, no longer available).

The Duchess revealed in her interview that she brought the pants home with her to California.
The blue-and-white linen pants she’s wearing today were something from the cottage, actually: “They’re like $30 pants from Boden, and I brought them back.”
Be sure to listen to the latest episode of Archetypes with Meghan’s guest, Mariah Carey and the two discuss the ‘Duality of Diva’ – only on Spotify.
Join us back here next week when Meghan and Harry head to the UK and Germany for a number of engagements including; WellChild Awards, Invictus Games 2023 Germany – One Year to Go and One Young World.
I adore the Tory Burch dress! I would wear that in a heartbeat. Although somehow I don’t think it would have the same impact as when Meghan wore it. She is both gorgeous and very photogenic.
Fantastic outfits, my favourite photos are those with the Tory Burch dress, although I’m not sure I would like it in moviment. The peplum (?) might perhaps work better if the length was longer. The photo with the Bottega Venetta dress immediately struck me because of the pearls. They’re so elegant, but Meghan doesn’t seem to be a huge fan of pearls. The necklace seems to be something that she would wear in a couple of years if she still remained in the Royal Family. Overall, great photos and interview. Meghan looks fabulous!
The Tory Burch is my favorite, though I confess I would have preferred either silver-toned jewelry or red. In general, I’m just so glad to see her in clothes that are better tailored to her shape, petite and short waisted! All of these outfits are so much more flattering because of that (or at least the angles they’re taking the pictures at).
WOW! Meghan looks incredibly stunning in all of these photos. I can even almost forgive the severe middle part (at least it’s partially covered by the magazine name!). Those earrings are fierce and I love the tulle dress. The all-white outfit makes her look like such a boss and I absolutely love how the colour of her eyes shines with the makeup. But I think my favourite look is the Bottega Veneta with the pearls – what a goddess!
Thank you for identifying all the clothes and jewelry. Is there a site where we can see the Lanvin Melodie earrings? Thank you.
Hi Allison, the earrings are only available in boutiques currently. We’re hoping they appear online at some point. Thanks, Susan
Megan looks beautiful in all of the photos.
I love the Tory Burch dress Meghan wore for the cover photo. To me it has a 50’s, 60’s vibe and is reminiscent of Grace Kelly and Jackie O..
I love this, I love that she is living her best life which really is all any of us can do. And I do get what she is saying about the photographers, I always thought that first school day was a private moment between Mum and Dad (but that’s just me).
One an outfit note I love the white suit, the folds of that jacket are perfect. I do the first black dress with the cutouts and the tweed dress but that white jacket is superb. Only thing I wasn’t sold on was that second dress with the puffy skirt but then I’m not a fan of skirts like that. I didn’t like them on Kate when she did her 40th pictures but the two contrasting colors are nice and Meghan has got the arms to show it as well. Only thing I struggle with is her hair. I know Meghan likes her hair tied back but to me it just looks painful. If I had my hair tied back like that for ten hours I would be in agony. But hey she’s happy so (shrugs)
And sounds like Archie is being raised to be a proper little gent.
