In a heartwarming event on Thursday, March 21st, Meghan graced the halls of the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, spreading joy through the magic of storytelling. Clad in an elegant Oscar de La Renta silk shirt dress paired with stylish black Aquazzura flats, Meghan not only captivated the young audience with her reading but also made a fashion statement with her chic ensemble.
Meghan, who is no stranger to connecting with children through literature, led a captivating Literally Healing session, where she brought beloved stories to life for the young patients. From the adventures of Rosie the Riveter to the catchy tunes of Pete the Cat, Meghan engaged the children with animated readings, infusing each tale with her own unique flair.
Below a short video of Meghan’s visit via Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
The Duchess’s genuine enthusiasm and vibrant personality shone through as she interacted with the children, encouraging them to participate in STEAM activities related to the stories. From shouting out answers to singing along with Meghan, the children were enthralled by her charismatic presence.
During the session, Meghan also took the time to pose for photos with the children, spreading smiles and laughter wherever she went. One particularly touching moment captured Meghan conversing with a young girl about the magic of an instant camera image, showcasing her warmth and empathy.
This isn’t the first time Meghan has showcased her storytelling talents. From reading “Duck! Rabbit!” via Save the Children, to her son Archie on his first birthday to penning her own children’s book, “The Bench,” inspired by her family, Meghan has demonstrated her passion for literature and connection.

Meghan’s visit was part of Make March Matter, an annual fundraiser that supports the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in its mission to provide hope and healing to children and families. Through initiatives like Literally Healing, which gifts over 65,000 books annually to families at the hospital, Meghan and other celebrities contribute to promoting literacy and well-being among young patients.
Back in December 2023 I had a chance to speak a little bit with actress and CHLA’s Foundation Board of Trustees President, Nikki DeLoach at Christmas Con NJ about her involvement with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and why she holds it near and dear to her heart.
More from LA Confidential Magazine about how Nikki considers her life is about giving back —
“When I take my last breath in this world, I want to know that I gave it all,” she tells Los Angeles Confidential. “I want to know that I tried to leave the world a better place.”
See her Instagram post and watch her short video about CHLA below.

In a world where acts of kindness and compassion hold immense power, Meghan’s special storytime at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles serves as a beautiful reminder of the joy that can be found in the simple act of sharing stories and spreading love.

Now our look at what Meghan wore for the visit.
Meghan wore her Oscar De La Renta Silk-Chiffon Landscape Shirtdress, retail $3,490. She was first seen wearing the dress in the couple’s 2022 Netflix docu-series.
Her shoes are the Aquazzura ‘Love Affair’ flats in black suede, $795. Meghan first wore the shoe back in September 2023 for the Invictus Games (below left).
Meghan wore a pair of gold earrings which we haven’t been able identify yet. She’s worn a lot of Bottega Veneta and Anine Bing earrings lately so I wouldn’t be surprised if they are from one of these brands.
We have a few quick updates today. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have updated their site with more about their night hosting an event at the Kinsey African American Art and History Collection at SoFi Stadium in LA on Thursday, March 21st. You can read more about it on their site here and our post here. Meghan’s mother, Doria was also in attendance.
Over on the Archewell.org site, more about the couple’s visit to Uvalde, Texas for Family Day. Our post on their visit can be found here.
For those wondering, Meghan wore a top from Heidi Merrick – the Marish top in black, $225. She paired it with black skinny jeans which were not identified – most likely a pair she has worn before.
Her shoes are from Birdies, the Goldfinch Onyx Gilded Silk, $190.
Her earrings are the Ariel Gordon Royal Signet Studs, $275 and her necklace is the Ariel Gordon St. Christopher Talisman charm, starting at $395 (first worn in August 2023). She also had on her Ariel Gordon ‘Hex’ bracelet, $5500.

Pretty look head to toe. Meghan seems to get the most out of special items in her wardrobe. I like the soft and colorful pattern for this type of engagement.
