Today Variety magazine released a a cover story featuring Meghan.
The Duchess was set to be honored at Variety’s 2022 Power of Women for both philanthropic and creative work — which includes her podcast “Archetypes,” routed through Archewell. The event celebrates notable achievements in entertainment and media by women throughout the year. That all changed about three weeks before press time with the death of Queen Elizabeth.
The interview took place after the mourning period for the Queen. Meghan had this to say on mourning the Queen and her legacy —
What’s so beautiful is to look at the legacy that his grandmother was able to leave on so many fronts. Certainly, in terms of female leadership, she is the most shining example of what that looks like. I feel deep gratitude to have been able to spend time with her and get to know her. It’s been a complicated time, but my husband, ever the optimist, said, “Now she’s reunited with her husband.”
She spoke about her New York Magazine – The Cut – article and how it was was intended to focus on her podcast “Archetypes”.
Meghan went on to elaborate more about her podcast —
Part of what I’m doing with “Archetypes” is looking at the nuances around the women who come on the show. I’m not a journalist, but I want a candid, real conversation with them. I’m talking to some really textured, colorful, layered, dynamic women with strong histories. And that comes with a lot of pieces you can choose to include or not; I choose to include something that I feel is fair to them and also uplifting. And something we can all learn from.”
When asked what she wants most out of life, Meghan had this to say —
“Joy. That’s really it. It’s everything that we can work toward for ourselves, our friends, our kids, those around us — that would feel so good. And we do feel joyful.”
As for what she thinks are the biggest misconceptions are about her, Meghan had this to say —
She also has no intension of going back to acting but had this advise for any actor that plays her in the future —
The Duchess would also love to see more good rom-coms — She said she’s probably watched “When Harry Met Sally” a million times and all the Julia Roberts rom-coms.
While the article focuses mainly on Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes and their foundation, Archewell, we do get a few glimpses into home life — like watching “Jeopardy!”, doing Wordle before bed and listening to Beyonce’s new album or her “1970’s Road Trip” playlist. Harry’s favorite fast food — In-and-Out Burger!
If you’re wondering what an average work day looks like for the couple Meghan had this to say —
We share an office. We work from home, as most people started to do during lockdown. It allows us to have significant time with our kids at this really special moment in their lives. We’ll never get this time back. I make breakfast, and we get the kids set for the day. We do a lot of joint calls and Zooms, but also try to divide what we can focus our energies on so we can accomplish even more. My husband is on a 24-hour time zone, where half of your life is waking up as the other half is going to sleep. It’s kind of the reverse of what I went through living in the U.K. He’s very good at responding on text. Me, I try to be as fast as possible on email. I’ve always said, if it takes less than five minutes, do it now.
There was also a mention of the upcoming Netflix docuseries, directed by Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Liz Garbus, was also mentioned. Originally it was due out in December of this year, but has now been pushed back to sometime in 2023.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS. Fashion wise there is nothing bad I can say because she looks gorgeous in all of them. That blue dress is just blow me away and the green! God I wish she’d have worn the green when she was a working royal because she looks so stunning in it and a tiara would have been the icing on the cake. Even her hair which sometimes I think is harsh in her buns was perfect this time. Everything was perfect fashion wise but what struck me the most was her interview and her video clip because she just seems to be living her best life with her husband and her kids and who doesn’t want that. Seriously she looks so happy and young and you can really see the lack of strain here as opposed to when she was a working royal and she was struggling. In terms of the black t-shirt she was wearing (previous post i think) I am so glad that she can wear things like that now. I wish other royals could do that but I get it’s dicey for them. But that was a lovely outfit too. After so many misfits and tailoring mishaps I am so glad that she’s not just getting it right but hitting it out the ball park.
Also I know we don’t talk about negative things here but I think even the most ardent Meghan hater will struggle to find an issue here with what she said, I think her comments about Her Majesty was a lovely tribute and bang on right. The Queen was the living embodiment of a strong female presence that we could all look up to and Prince Harry’s comment about her now being with her husband and the great love of her life was so true as well. I know she’ll always have haters but this interview was so better than the ones that she has done previously.

I thought the Cut article was great. She had some things to say and she said them. Royalists just have to accept that they’re not going like everything she says especially about the press and the Royal institution.
All the dresses were fantastic, couldn’t decide which I loved the most. Maybe if i had to choose, the green one but with the sleek hair style from the Carolina Herrera one. Makes her look statuesque.
Thanks for giving a safe place and a voice of reason in the hate out there. Sorry for venting, but I need to say this and I think people here would agree:
The Cut interview was a passive aggressive hack job. I’m surprised they haven’t sued yet for the ridiculous comments, like the guttural moaning or the bit about Instagram. Who would ever say something like that, and how did the author get away with making up these comments?
And regarding their house as per the Cut article, well, if you’re used to living in wealth and luxury like a famous, multi-millionaire Hollywood actress of one of the most award-winning TV series would be, then it’s natural to have a mansion. I mean honestly, nobody begrudges the Silicon Valley (white men) CEOs or the Obamas living in mansions or taking private jets that befit their economic status. Their taking private jets doesn’t ruin the environment as the masses buying cheap tat or going on international vacations. If we all gave up that, then the celebs taking private jets wouldn’t even matter.
But I notice there’s quite a bit of jealousy, at least on this side of the Atlantic of rich, successful people who have made their fortunes. Frogmore Cottage looks charming but I always wondered if it weren’t a bit passive aggressive too because quite honestly, it’s just a large house. Frogmore House would have been a far more appropriate gift, given Meghan’s previous wealth. It would have made her feel like she wasn’t giving up so much of her previous life if she could have continued to have a bit of her lifestyle, and maybe they would have stayed in the Firm. It’s unfortunate that the Queen was surrounded by the wrong people indeed. She was already showing her age a bit at that time, so she’s not to blame at all.

These looks are all fantastic. I think my favorite actual dress is the Carolina Herrera, but my favorite photo is the one with the green Galvin dress; very Pre-Raphaelite. I also really love the choker on the cover, a look I could definitely not pull off!
The evening sandals have a little bit of a 90s vibe, to them, no? I’m game for a 90s shoe renaissance but let’s not take it too far, LOL.
