CHARITIES/PATRONAGES

In March of 2019 it was announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would be stepping down as working Senior Royals. As agreed per the arrangement, they have kept their private patronages as shown below.

Additionally, to clear up any confusion — The couple retain their HRH title, however, they just don’t use HRH and simply go by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Harry and Meghan do not receive any Sovereign Grant funds nor do they receive private financial support from King Charles and they have also repaid the Sovereign Grant for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage in September of 2020.

You can read more details here and here.

Archewell – Please see our separate page in the drop down menu for more information on Archewell.

Meghan and Harry remain patrons of the following organizations —

SMART WORKS – The organization “…helps long-term unemployed and vulnerable women regain the skills, confidence and tools to succeed at job interviews, return to employment and transform their lives.”

There are seven Smart Works locations in the UK offering free interview clothing and coaching for women with confirmed job interviews.

The organization said that Meghan’s “….decision to support Smart Works reflects her passion in supporting women, and her commitment will help women in need across the UK.” And from Smart Works Chair and Founder Juliet Hughes-Hallett –

We have been honoured to welcome the Duchess to our West London Centre and see her engage with our clients and volunteers. Her empathy and insight were obvious. The Duchess is a natural coach and our clients were inspired and helped by her.”

If in the UK, find out how you can get involved by visiting the Smart Works site.

In the United States, please visit the similar charity, Dress for Success to find out how you can get involved and make donations.

The Duchess of Sussex — TOGETHER – Our Community Cookbook
Meghan’s first solo charity project as the Duchess of Sussex. All profits from the sales will help support communities through cook and sharing food. You can read more about the project here.

Together: Our Community Cookbook features more than 50 recipes from the Hubb Community Kitchen. The Hubb was started by women displaced following the deadly Grenfell Tower fire in 2017, which killed 72 people. Currently the kitchen is open two days a week. It is hoped enough money will be raised through the book sales to keep it open up to seven days a week. The initial goal is to sell 50,000 copies of the cookbook which will surely be surpassed with the sellout on some online sites.

Available at:
     • Amazon (US) $11.28
     • Barnes & Noble (US) $11.51
     • Waterstones (UK) £9.99

The Duke of Sussex, Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation

“On a trip to the Warrior Games in the United States in 2013, The Duke of Sussex saw the positive impact sport could have on the recovery and rehabilitation of wounded, injured and ill servicemen and women. He vowed to take the idea and launch a similar event in the UK. The Invictus Games Foundation was established and in 2014 London hosted the inaugural Invictus Games, at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with more than 400 competitors from 13 nations.” — The Story, Invictus Games 2018

Invictus Games 2027 will take place in Birmingham, England.
