On Monday Harry and Meghan made a surprise visit to a local Preschool Learning Center in Los Angeles, part of Assistance League of Los Angeles.
The couple planted petunias, California wildflowers, tomatoes, squash, sweet peas as well as Forget-Me-Nots.
The Forget-Me-Nots were planted in honor of Princess Diana who died 23 years ago on Monday. For those that may not recall, Forget-Me-Nots were Diana’s favorite flower.
The Assistance League® of Los Angeles impacts the lives of thousands of children and families across the Los Angeles area.
The organization was formed over 100 years ago with the intent to “improve the lives of impoverished children in the community through philanthropy, dedicated service and compassionate programs.”
Since the 1920s, the Preschool Auxiliary has operated this program through a combination of fundraising and professional support. As a result their services are able to be provided free of charge to children from low-income families.
The couple also read a few books to the children about gardening, vegetables, and planting, including the children’s classic Jack and the Beanstalk.
Below, the Assistance League Los Angeles’ Instagram post.
Now, a quick look at what Meghan wore for a day of gardening.
The Duchess wore her Rothy’s ‘The Point’ flat in black, $145 – receive $20 off your pair when you click here.
I own the Rothy’s ‘The Point’ in both black and red camouflage as well as a limited edition pair in pink and red. The shoes are very comfortable, however, so that you are aware, they offer no support.
I love how easy these are to toss on and wear in the rain or for quick errands. They are also washable which is fantastic!
If you have a narrow foot, I recommend ordering your normal size. If you have a wider foot, I would suggest ordering up by 1/2 a size.
Meghan also owns The Point style in the wool version which she was seen wearing upon returning from their Stamford University back in the winter. The wool version is currently not available but we expect to see them return in the Fall and Winter months.
UPDATE – 1 September: Meghan’s shirt is from Anthropologie. It is one of their premium brands, Pilcro and the Letterpress — The Cate Classic Buttondown in blue, $88. The shirt is no longer available. The black version of the shirt is available in limited sizes.
We’re thinking Meghan wore the shirt for Archie’s birthday when she read Duck! Rabbit!.
Thanks to one of Meghan’s Fashion’s followers for the tip on the shirt.
Meghan’s jeans could be her DL1961 ‘Emma’ jeans, $179 that she was seen wearing in South Africa or they could be a brand new pair.
Once again she wore her Cartier ‘Love’ bangle bracelet in gold and her Monica Vinader Linear Friendship Bracelet in gold, $175.

It is always lovely to see children pottering in a garden and this is no different. What a bonus for the children to have a visit such as this by the Duke and Duchess. This is a fabulous organisation offering fundamentals such as this for children, a wonderful outdoor activity where they can learn and have fun.
