Official Wedding Photographs Released – And They’re Fabulous

As promised, some of the official wedding photos have been released by Kensington Palace and TRH, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The images were shot by Alexi Lubomirski, who also took Meghan and Harry’s engagement photos, and they are outstanding.

One of the pictures is a portrait taken in the Green Drawing Room with the bride and groom and the wedding party; HM and the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and the six bridesmaids and four page boys.

You can see how well the wardrobe coordination done ahead of the big day played out in the pictures. The Queen’s mint green and Ms. Ragland’s soft pistachio look lovely with the Duchess of Cornwall’s soft pink and the Duchess of Cambridge’s pale yellow.

A closer look at Harry, Meghan and Doria Ragland.

All of the images were taken at Windsor Castle shortly after the couple returned from their post-ceremony carriage ride through Windsor. A black and white photo shows Meghan and Harry posed on the east terrace steps of Windsor Castle.

The Palace also released a statement expressing the couple’s appreciation and thanks:

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex would like to thank everyone who took part in the celebrations of their wedding on Saturday. They feel so lucky to have been able to share their day with all those gathered in Windsor and also all those who watched the wedding on television across the UK, Commonwealth, and around the world.

Their Royal Highnesses are delighted with these official portraits taken by Alexi Lubomirski and are happy to be able to share them today. They would also like to say thank you for all of the generous messages of support they have received.”

The third picture shows Meghan and Harry with the bridesmaids and page boys, all of whom are smiling and looking relaxed.

On Sunday Mr. Lubomirski posted a photo of himself and his wife Giada on Instagram, showing the couple as they walked to St. George’s Chapel.

The photographer also released a statement:

“It has been an incredible honour and privilege to document The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s inspiring journey of love, hope and family; from the engagement photos, all the way through to the official wedding and family portraits on Saturday.

“This has been a beautiful chapter in my career and life, that I will happily never forget.”

You may recognize the background of the group photos. It is also where Annie Leibovitz shot the Queen’s 90th birthday portrait with her five great-grandchildren and her two youngest grandchildren.

It was such a treat to see the news release and photos this morning. The happy expressions on everyone’s faces were delightful, echoing the joy we saw throughout the wedding and surrounding events. We don’t know if there will be more pictures released at any point, or if there will be any of the evening reception (doubtful in our opinion, but we’d love to be wrong!); we’ll cross our fingers we see one or two more.

We have several more posts to do, including one with sketches of the two dresses worn by Meghan, an update on the couple’s calendar and other news. And tomorrow we will see Harry and Meghan at their first official engagement as a married couple when they attend a Garden Party party at Buckingham Palace.

I’m actually not happy with the photos, I disagree that they are ‘outstanding’. As an amateur photographer you can clearly see the difference in the backdrop between the one of the Queen and great grandkids and the wedding portrait. The wedding portrait cut off the background it was not centered and that bothers my eye. Also William standing right under that lamp, bad positioning. It would have looked better to center Harry and Meghan in that open doorway, and everyone around them. To be honest I feel they could have done so much better. Everyone looked
Amazing just disappointed in the quality and composition of the photos

My only quibble is with the one with the kids — the background is too dark so the pageboy on the left disappears — he’s like a floating head because it’s hard to see his body. I’m hoping it’s just the way the image appears here, and that there’s a higher quality original somewhere that proves me wrong!

Two out of three – the black-and-white one is an off choice for newlyweds, given that she’s looking in a completely different direction than her husband, not at him or the camera. This works fine if she’s solo, but not when it’s both of them.

I love, love, love the photo on the terrace steps. It is not your typical royal photo and that is one of the things that I love about it, that and they both look so relaxed and happy.

Just beautiful! The wedding party and the entire family look radiant with happiness.

I loved these photos, especially of the one with the kids who are all smiling and some are hamming it up for the camera!
I will say in the close up of Meghan, Harry, and Doria, I can’t see Doria’s nose ring. She wore it for the ceremony and I can’t imagine she just popped it out for the pictures. I’m wondering if it was edited out.

Is it just me, or is Meghan wearing a LOT more eye makeup in these photos than at the ceremony? Her makeup was very natural looking when I watched the live video, yet here it looks totally different.

Lighting, coupled with monitors, etc – can cause images to appear visually different on all the various platforms. If you watch, for example, the red carpet or presentations during the Oscars depending on your TV quality and the Hi-Def images, the gowns on celebs always appear different than in the photos you see online. Even if you were to compare Vanity Fair to Harpers Bazaar site images, you’ll see variations in the photos and how the celebs appear to look.

I am ugly crying with joy for these lovely people. Sick of the negativity in this world! This brings me such joy!

Love how the mom of the bride coordinates with the Queen. Beautiful pics!

Smart to spot the similar backdrops! It’s hard to corral lots of little ones for a family photo, but this was especially nice.

I love how Doria is placed plum in the middle of the family group. No outsiders here – kudos to the BRF

Lovely, lovely photos. The photos exude love and warmth and a sense of family. The children are adorable.

Love, love these photos. So perfect and happy. The kids look great and the composition and balance of colors is just right! For anyone who hasn’t seen it, the BBC did a delightful Highlights video set to cute love songs — it’s so well done and kind of a must-see!
